Captain Ray Rosher, a third-generation fisherman from Miami, has had a deep connection to the sea since childhood. He began his career as a professional crew member in 1979 at the age of 16 as a crewman aboard the Tropicat, a Bertram owned by the Kelly Family, a local Caterpillar dealer. Two decades later, he became the captain of his first charter boat, Miss Britt. With over 40 years of experience as a full-time fishing captain in both South Florida and international waters, Ray is dedicated to creating strategies that simplify and enhance sport fishing, making it accessible to anglers of all skill levels. Today, Ray continues to oversee and is one of the captains of the his Miami-based Miss Britt Charters fleet as well as being the creative force behind R&R Tackle, his line of salt and freshwater fishing products.

Ray has spent over 10 years as a member and eventually the chairman of an advisory panel to the South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council. He has also been involved in several other state and federal fisheries management causes.

He remains active in the tournament circuit, looking to add to his 30+ billfish tournament titles including 3 World Sailfish Championships, 2 IGFA Offshore World Championships, and 5 Silver Sailfish Derbies.

Ray received the Tommy Gifford (Captains and Crew Hall of Fame Award) from the IGFA in 2023 for his contributions to recreational angling.

Amid a rap sheet of fish, salt, and oversized checks, he’s been asked, “What’s your best reward?”

“I’d have to say my daughters and my son, the men and women I’ve had the honor of being part of a crew with, and all the friendships I’ve made and have maintained through all these years. These are the riches that can’t fit in your wallet.”
