BAIT FISH
The acquisition and maintenance of live bait is both a science and an entire industry of its own here. It’s common for certain bait fish to cost over $10 per fish in peak season. Here are some of our most common species. Every charter usually starts with a stop to buy bait, catch bait, or both.
OFFSHORE SPECIES
The species listed next make up the majority of what we target when we head out to the Atlantic from Biscayne Bay. They range in size from 1 lb to 1000+ lbs with varying levels of “sportiness”, fighting strength, and rarity. Some are seasonal but they are all part of a diverse South Florida fishery that exists nowhere else in the world.
INSHORE SPECIES
These species call Biscayne Bay home opting to remain in shallow, brackish water was opposed to the open ocean. Florida’s geography is famous for the existence of areas of inches deep water that holds some of the worlds most sought after game fish.
